Jennifer K Galvin, former Business Manager (2000-2015) Answered Tue Absolutely! Well maybe not the braces themselves, but the end result for sure. Think about the first thing that you notice about someone, for many people it is their smile. When someone feels good about their smile, they aren't afraid to show it. Those with teeth or jaws that are misaligned, crowded, or teeth that are discolored, or missing, tend to spend time figuring out which way to smile, or whether they can ever smile and not show those imperfections. In a way, it is unfortunate that society's vision of beauty has made us all self conscious about our looks. Luckily though, we have options to correct a not so perfect smile. A healthy smile has many benefits both psychological and of course health related!
Richard Vlock, orthodontist, retired Answered Aug 8, 2016 I interpret a question like that as meaning that you don't want braces. If I am correct and you don't want them, then you shouldn't have them, because you will be unhappy with them, and your treatment will be a nightmare for you and the orthodontist. If I have misinterpreted your question, and you mean what are the reasons for getting braces, then crowded, crooked or misaligned teeth are sufficient reason. Most people with misaligned teeth are unhappy with them and are only too happy to get braces
